Explore Gran Vía
It starts on Alcalá Street and ends at Plaza de España. Since its construction in the early 20th century, it has been one of the main thoroughfares from a commercial, tourist, and leisure perspective. This street is famous for its cinemas and musical theaters, which is why this area is now known as Madrid’s Broadway.
Visit the Puerta del Sol
The iconic square where, since 1950, the so-called Kilometre Zero of Spain’s radial roads is located. Its oldest building is the Casa de Correos, and it features the tower clock, whose chimes at midnight on December 31st mark the traditional eating of the twelve grapes.

Discover the Art Walk
This route can be done over a variable period of time, but it is clear that just a visit to the Prado Museum alone can take more than a day if explored in detail. There is a combined ticket for the three museums on the Art Walk: Prado, Thyssen, and Reina Sofía. The three museums are located within walking distance of each other, so they can be easily explored on foot.

Conquer the Madrid of the Austrians
It may be the most touristy area of the city. We begin our tour from the Ópera square. Right in front of us is the Royal Theatre of Madrid, and to the left, there is a street that leads to the Royal Palace. After visiting the Royal Palace and the recently built Almudena Cathedral, we arrive at the intersection of Bailén Street and Calle Mayor, where the State Council and the General Captaincy are located. Walking up Calle Mayor, we first encounter Plaza de la Villa, the former town hall, where you can find the Casa de la Villa, Casa Cisneros, and the Tower of Lujanes. A few meters further, we reach the majestic Plaza Mayor, where the House of the Bakery and the statue of Philip III, located in the middle of the square, stand out.
Relax in El Retiro
If you want to explore the green heart of Madrid, you can get lost in the Retiro Gardens, a colossal and majestic park covering 118 hectares (1.18 square kilometers).
